In my previous post Toyota Prius mocked in No Strings Attached I briefly analyzed Toyota Prius’ product placement in the movie No Strings Attached. I’ve also mentioned that the movie included several other brands, e.g. Stella Artois, iPhone, Audi, BMW, Dearfoams …
Here are some examples of product placement from the movie.
Prius can be seen in two scenes, which are described in the aforementioned post. Also, in both scenes characters mentioned the brand and in one of them we can see characters going in and out of the car.
We can see bottles of Stella Artois beer in a few scenes with Ashton Kutcher and his friends. Besides seeing the logo on bottles, there were also guys drinking Stella beer.
We could say that all characters in the movie were using iPhones: besides talking and texting there were also several close-ups of the brand.
It’s quite difficult to put such product as slippers in the movie in a way that movie goers can recognize the brand. Characters in No Strings Attached were not wearing Dearfoams, however we could have seen the brand anyway. It was placed as an ad on a cab roof, which was a very creative product placement.
Audi and BMW
Natalie Portman’s characer was driving Audi A3, while Ashton Kutcher’s owned an old BMW from the 5 series. There were two types of product placement in the movie: visual (both cars were seen in several scenes) and usage (both characters were driving their cars).
