I rarely get an “order” to write about some product placement, but when I get one, it’s probably because it’s really good or it features a cool product. Well, this one goes into the latter category. :)
The reason: sunglasses in the trailer for The Counselor.
The Counselor is directed by Ridley Scott and written by Pulitzer Prize winner Cormac McCarthy. This is McCarthy’s first text written directly for the big screen. The plot revolves around the troubled Mexico/Texas border area and deals with themes of greed, death, and the primal instincts of humans and their consequences.
Anyway, a friend of mine told me about an additional trailer for The Counselor. It’s not a regular trailer but more of a spin-off. It involves Michael Fassbender (The Counselor) and Natalie Dormer, who is best known for her role as Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones.

One of the main points of interest in the trailer are Fassbender’s sunglasses. The counselor wears Cutler and Gross 1057 Honey Tort sunglasses.
Cutler and Gross posted confirmation on the official website that these are indeed their sunglasses, stating that they “were pleased to discover that Michael Fassbender was captured in up-coming movie – The Counsellor sporting our 1057 Honey Tort sunglass model.”
Cutler and Gross confirmed this product placement for Brands&Films and also gave a bit of an insight into the whole process. A large selection of sunglasses was originally sent to the movie production from their NYC contact. Cutler and Gross also admitted that they were indeed very pleased they had selected the 1057 HT model.
