Those that are huge fans of British television and film will be familiar with Birmingham, as it is a city that is often used for filming some of the most popular shows and flicks that we can see on television or in the cinemas. The city has had more success than most when it comes to filming, but what are some of the most popular titles that have been filmed in the Second City?

Line of Duty

One of the biggest British dramas in recent years was filmed in Birmingham. The show’s first season was filmed in its entirety in the Second City, with the Queen’s Arms used for pub filming.

However, following the first season, Line of Duty relocated to Northern Ireland, where the previous five seasons have been filmed. Regardless, the show still looks as though it is set in Birmingham, with maps of the second city used, as well as the famous ‘0121’ area code for the second city are prominent throughout.

Peaky Blinders

Another of the famous BBC dramas that has called Birmingham home is Peaky Blinders. It isn’t that surprising that a number of the scenes in the hit drama were filmed in Birmingham, as the drama focuses on a gang from the Second City. One of the most prominent spots that have been used for filming throughout its history is at the Black Country Living Museum.

Ready Player One

It isn’t just television dramas that have been filmed in Birmingham, as the hugely successful Ready Player One also used the Second City as its filming location. The film was produced by Steven Spielberg, and starred Olivia Cooke, T.J. Miller and Simon Pegg. It was a hugely commercially successful film, with Ready Player One grossing over $580 million. It also received a number of nominations, including Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards and British Academy Film Award.
