It doesn’t matter whether you’ve seen it or not, or whether you like it or not, the truth is that Star Trek is for sure one of the most popular sci-fi franchises in the world. Even though it’s been over fifty years since the first show was filmed, it seems like it hasn’t lost its popularity.

As always, fans are mostly interested in some facts related to this series that weren’t mentioned back then. Since we’re huge fans as well, we’ve decided to uncover some things that just might surprise you. Let’s check them out together!

The First Interracial Kiss On US TV Was Supposed To Be Between Spock & Uhura

Start Trek will be remembered for having the first interracial history on American TV back in 1968. Namely, this kiss was supposed to occur between Lt. Uhura and Spock, however, once William Shatner heard that this kiss is to make history, he decided that things must be changed!

Of course, he decided that he was going to be the one who will have the kiss, even though he was quite nervous about it.

You Gotta Love Pizza!

No matter how much you adore Star Trek, it seems like you cannot consider yourself to be a fan if you do not love pizza. Well, at least that’s what the Ukonic brand thought when they’ve developed Star Trek: The Original Series USS Enterprise NCC 1701 Pizza Cutter Utensil.

The whole point of it is to (as you already assume) create an item that has a shape like the USS Enterprise. Even though the resemblance is not that bad, the main question is, was the truly necessary? It seems like fans of this franchise have different opinions about this. What about you?

The Klingons Change

Many people have noticed that Klingons changed the appearance between TOS and DS9. What happened? Passionate Star Trek admirers at StarShips.com suggest that some of them have that look without head ridges due to the ‘Augment Virus’. Namely, this was supposed to be a hybridized version of Levodian Flu.

Additionally, all of this arrived from Arik Soong’s work to develop improved augmented people, such as Khan. However, even when the virus was destroyed, they were still experiencing the effects, like humanoid looks, along with their descendants because the DNA has been changed.

Spock’s Skin Was Originally Supposed To Be Red

What’s interesting is the fact the popular figure might have looked drastically different in the TV series. Namely, Gene Roddenberry has stated that Spock doesn’t have just tapering ears and prominent brows, but also red skin (resembles crimson).

However, they quickly decided to give up on this idea, due to the fact that this color looked jet black on the black and white TV. They’ve decided to opt for yellow, which looked green on the television.

There are so many more interesting facts related to this franchise, however, it would take us forever to write everything down. Therefore, we’ve decided to mention the ones that are maybe the most fascinating.
