Yes, it’s shocking, isn’t it? One of the biggest boy bands at the moment released music video for their new single ‘Best Song Ever’ and the video doesn’t have any brand that would be highly visible.

One Direction’s ‘Best Song Ever’ (2013, Syco, Columbia, screen capture)

I don’t really know any of One Direction’s songs, but a quick look at YouTube’s statistics shows that their music videos receive a lot of attention. A lot! Below you can find the number of views for band’s top 10 videos (as of 22nd July 2013).

Most viewed One Direction’s videos

I’m not disappointed with the fact that there are no brands in the video; however … can we say that it was a missed opportunity for some brands? This video will surely get more than 100 million views on YouTube alone.

On the other hand music videos without product placement are in minority nowadays, so it’s a nice change :)

Well, enjoy the video ;)

  1. Hello there,
I think that in one direction best song ever there is in fact small product placement.
At 4 minutes and 50 seconds in you can clearly see that the band members shoes are nike and adidas.
Unsure as to if this is product placement or coincidence. Any thought on this?
    Thanks!
