Sir Alfred Hitchcock was born on this day (13th August) in 1899 in Leytonstone, London. He directed more than fifty feature films and is regarded as greatest British filmmaker. Daily Telegraph once said: »Hitchcock did more than any director to shape modern cinema, which would be utterly different without him.« The magazine MovieMaker has even described him as the most influential filmmaker of all-time.

One of his trademarks was his cameo appearances. He could be seen for a brief moment in 39 movies, for example boarding a bus, passing by, standing near a building… In Lifeboat he even appeared in a newspaper photograph.

His cameo appearances are not ‘product placement’ of course, but Hitchcock-spotting can be a funny addition when watching his movies.

The list of his cameo appearances is here.
