The title says it all: it’s a disgrace. Even if Avril Lavigne & co. wanted to show the irony of product placement in music videos, it doesn’t look like it. It’s just a case of a bad taste.

In the beginning of her latest video Rock N Roll Avril answers the phone call. But before that she says: »Oh my new Sony phone is ringing.« Then we get a closer look of the phone.

So, this product placement ticks all the boxes: brand was mentioned; product was seen and even used. In theory, that’s great, but in our case the execution was totally awkward and forced. As I said, it might be ironic, but I haven’t got that feeling.

It’s the most obvious case of »in your face« product placement and I really really don’t like it (I could also use the word ‘hate’).
